My Entrepreneurship Story

My entrepreneurship story started on a rocky note. I applied for the University of Florida my senior year of high school. I was accepted, but only into the Innovation Academy program. Despite the odd schedule, I decided to go into the program; my required minor was innovation. After my second semester on campus, I loved having my minor in innovation. In my summer innovation academy class, we were in teams of four and were required to create a prototype for an invention or an innovation that each team came up with. My group innovated and upgraded the basic litter box to a new level. Our prototype was 95 percent ready for use. We displayed it to judges and after the event, we were approached by one judge that told us that our product would be able to sell and gave us his card so that we could talk with him another time. Unfortunately, we did not get back to him about the litter box, but that project inspired me. It was a thrill knowing that a product that college students created has the possibility of success. ENT 3003 is required for minor, but even if it was not required, I would still want to take it. It opens up doors for me that I did not know existed. Entrepreneurship is a field of random seeds just waiting for someone to water them. The seeds of ideas need the water (effort) in order to become a success. The Innovation Academy was not my first choice at first, but I have come to love this program.

  1. Kristine I really enjoyed reading about your entrepreneurship story. When I was younger, I always liked to invent things and make clothing for my dolls so that program sounds interesting to me. Of course, it must have been hard for you to kind of get put in this program but I am glad to hear that you have learned to love it. If you would like to read about my entrepreneurship story, I will leave it here:

  2. You have a really cool and unique entrepreneurship story. My dad is the king of makeshift solutions to little problems we'd find lying around the house so I think taking a class on creating a potential invention is really neat. I'm glad you've come around on enjoying the Innovation Academy program. I didn't know much about it until reading your story.
