1) Climate Change (formerly known as global warming) - Climate change is a phrase that some of us know too well, and some politicians don't know it well enough. The gasses and fossil fuels that factories and homes exert into the atmosphere cause tears in the ozone layer. This ozone layer is unable then incapable of fully maintaining a normal temperature. As the temperatures in the world gradually rise, the melting ice from both poles raise the sea level. The unstable weather also causes dramatic changes int he weather (from heat wave to a blizzard). A solution to the world's problem starts with a small step of change. Humans could stop burning as many fossil fuels as they do now; this could aid in slowing down the problem. Other than that, scientists could find another planet to take refuge on. The climate change problem that we as humans created is irreversible; the best we could do is buy more time.
2) Terrorism - Terrorism exists in every society and many religions. One of the Christian hate groups, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), is considered to be a domestic terrorist group by many. In the realm of Islam, the current extremist terrorist group is ISIS. The root problem to terrorism is religion, in which I would rather not discuss too much of. I will say that disagreements over the same religion of another name is where terrorism derives from. The Paris attacks, hotel hostage situations and 9/11 area ll acts of terrorism. A solution to terrorism is not the easiest to find. A good start would be to educate children with science, legitimate facts, and not to hate. As for the current terrorists, it would be best to find their meeting locations and properly deal with them. In order to protect countries, weaponry should be kept track of at all times and the NSA takes care of the rest with tracking Internet activity (in America).
3) World Hunger - It is no secret that children go to bed hungry around the world. with a great deal of the world in poverty, there are families that are lucky to eat once a day. Access to food and clean drinking water are issues for families in some countries as well. A solution for world hunger would entail a hint of socialism. The government sets taxes to pay for certain programs and have a budget for each year. If each country had a government that taxed the citizens a minuscule percentage extra to put aside to providing food to the malnourished; it would be similar to a soup kitchen, but more accessible.
4) Health Care - Not every country suffers from lack of health care, but the fact that there are countries without proper health care means that it is a problem. The lack of attention to diseases, such as HIV/AIDS, and mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, leads to improper treatment. The people who are suffering from these illnesses end up becoming more ill or even die. A solution for health care relies within government once again. If every country had a health care system set up like Canada's, then everyone would have equal access to the doctor's office and the hospital.
5) Gun Violence - Gun violence is technically not a global problem, but as I have never left the United States, this issue is global in my view. The illegal purchases and legal purchases of firearms have caused an innumerable amount of tragedy. Even after 20 children were fatally shot while in school, citizens refuse to accept that gun violence is a problem. A solution to this problem is to make gun-buying stricter and to have deep background checks. Illegal gun dealers should be tracked down and punished accordingly. It is ridiculous that it is easier to buy a gun than it is to get your driver's license.
6) Education - Every child should have the opportunity to go to school. The problem with education ranges from a poorly formed system to the lack of schools. Schools should be available all around the world and not just in the richest of countries. A solution to the education problem would have to start with creating schools where they are needed. Also, each school system around the country should follow after one country's good example, Finland. They receive proper education and are more advanced than other countries.
7) Human Trafficking - Human Trafficking is a subject that is taboo. It happens all around the world and it seems that not much is done about it. This crime is where people kidnap young girls - young adult women and sell them to people to use them as sex slaves. A solution to human trafficking would be to track down the major trading systems that traffickers use. There should be more investigations into the kidnappings and more attempts to shut down the human trafficking system.
8) Overpopulation - It is more than quite obvious that our world is overpopulated. Humans over-exhaust the resources that the earth still has left. Families that have over one dozen children are major contributors to the inevitable death of our planet. A solution to overpopulation is very tricky. One part of me says to have the government regulate the amount of children born to a family via birth control, but that sounds like an excerpt from a dystopian novel. A less invasive approach would to add an extra tax to those that have more than five children. This system is not controlling and would encourage families to stay small. Why is five the limit and not two? I would be a hypocrite; ideally, I want five children, but no more than that.
9) Discrimination - Hateful words a spoken on a daily basis. Discrimination occurs against race, gender, sexuality, and other categories. It is legal for businesses in many countries to fire their employees based upon sexuality. It is still legal to do so in Florida. Groups, such as the KKK are still existent and slightly active. The inequality between women and men is still very visible in many countries to this day. A solution to discrimination is simple; teach children about diversity and not to hate. Prejudice is not something someone is born with, it is taught. Hopefully, after a couple more generations, discrimination will be a thing of the past.
10) Animal Endangerment - The world does not belong to only humans; we share it with an innumerable amount of creatures. There are animals that we know, and then there are some that we have yet to discover. As fellow animals, humans inhabit the earth alongside other animals that we have domesticated, such as cats and dogs. Some humans go a step too far and take in more animals than they can take care of. Animal hoarders are all around the world and although their intentions are nice, they end up taking the lives of their pets too soon. A solution to animal endangerment is to create a system that tracks each animal adopted and to whom they were adopted by. It would monitor the amount of pets that one has and if found to be a dangerous amount, certain actions would proceed to ensure the animals are safe.
